“When you are in Chiang Mai you can be sure of one thing: you will be offered a trip to the temple of Doi Suthep!” This is how my recent guest post at Asiarooms starts off. Doi Suthep is one of the most famous landmarks in Northern Thailand. And if you think you have seen enough after weeks of temple bashing before arriving to Chiang Mai, please think twice before skipping Doi Suthep.
There is something about this place and I have summarized it in one word: Devotion. I am not only talking the devotion of Thai monks. More importantly it’s the devotion of local Thai people that we found so impressive. And yes, being a temple situated on top of a hill you have to show some devotion as well to even get there!
